Indigenous Stories of Strength is a collaborative project that aims to feature the leadership and resilience of American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian communities and peoples in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are seeking to share and amplify stories of Indigenous strength and survival that illuminate leadership from individuals, groups, and/or communities related to the global pandemic.
This project has four phases:
Phase 1: Call for nominations
Nominations are accepted starting April 15 through June 15, 2021 and can be submitted at IndigenousStrengths.com. The brief nomination form takes 10 minutes or less to fill out.
Phase 2: Nomination screening and review
Ongoing review of nominations until July 15, 2021
Phase 3: Finalists notified
Nominations that are invited to create and submit their work for the Virtual Showcase will be notified by July 15, 2021. Those who are selected and submit their work will receive a $500 stipend.
Phase 4: Virtual Showcase
In the fall of 2021, we will host a Virtual Showcase to share these stories widely
