Mary Cwik

Associate Director

I am motivated everyday by the relationships I have built with our Apache partners, what I have had the privilege to learn about the beauty and strength of our Native peoples, the call from the youth we serve to help them create a better future for themselves, and the challenge of addressing the complex issues that face AI communities.

Mary joined the Center for American Indian Health in July 2005.  She has managed or served as the PI on several youth suicide and substance abuse prevention initiatives, and is interested in suicide clusters/contagion and Emergency Department settings. Her primary responsibilities include providing training and technical assistance to tribal partners on grant submissions, study procedures, disseminating findings, human subjects/ethical issues, intervention development/adaptation, and crisis response protocols. She also teaches some of the Institute courses and her background is in child clinical psychology.
