Johanna Christine Blais is a member of the Diné Nation, Yoo'ó dine'é (The Bead People clan) born for Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge clan). Her maternal grandfather’s clan is Tódich'ii'nii (Bitter Water clan) and paternal grandfather’s clan is Tódich'ii'nii ( Bitter Water Clan). Johanna joined Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health in Shiprock, NM in June 2019. Johanna received a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and a minor in Indigenous Studies from Fort Lewis College. She works on two behavioral health projects: Honoring Life for American Indian Youth Suicide Prevention and NativeVision. These programs focus on the behavioral and mental well-being of the community and evaluate the impacts of improving the health of Native American families and their community. She is hoping to experience a different cultural approach and bring new ideas, suggestions, and knowledge back to the Native American community.
