Elvira is of the Honeycombed Rock people clan and born for the Near the Water people clan, she is originally from the Chinle and Kitsili/Black Mesa area. She is a Research Program Assistant with the Infectious Disease team at Johns Hopkins University Center for American Indian Health in Chinle, Arizona and has lived most of her life on the Navajo reservation. She studied at Dine College and Northern Arizona University, majoring in healthcare and nursing. She is excited and looking forward to working with the center and her team, to make a difference by promoting and educating her community on how to live a healthy lifestyle. One way she does this is by encouraging others to be physically active; if she's not at work, you can almost always find her outdoors hiking, biking or even working in her parent's/grandparents' corn fields.
