University of British Columbia

Since 2009, Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health has collaborated in education and research activities with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine’s School of Population and Public Health in an effort to build the capacity of indigenous scholars and researchers from the United States and Canada.  In 2011, the two entities solidified their partnership by drafting and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The purpose of the MOU was to affirm the existing collaboration and identify ways the parties can continue to work together to improve the health of Indigenous peoples in the United States and Canada. Specific areas of collaboration include: education, research, training/consultation and technical assistance, capacity building, direct services, cooperation with other academic institutions, and transferring lessons learned as appropriate to indigenous populations around the world.
